Privacy and cookies

The personal data of our users is one of the areas to which we devote the utmost care and attention. In accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act (ZVOP-1-UPB1), the website manager is obliged to protect the personal data of its users.

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

A cookie is a small file that is stored on your computer when you visit a website. Cookies contain various information that the website reads when you visit it again. Most modern websites use them. Cookies are not harmful in themselves, they do not contain viruses or other malicious code. They are used for various purposes: to display enhanced content on the website, to manage page visit statistics, to support social network plugins (plugins are add-ons that can be embedded in a website). The legal restriction of cookies is mainly due to the misuse of user tracking technology and invasion of privacy on the Internet.

TYPES OF COOKIES

Cookies can have very different contents. Good cookies are very useful for visitors, especially for sessions, logins, shopping carts and similar website tasks. Some cookies are particularly useful for website owners. For example, they are used to monitor the number of visits, i.e. the reach of your website, and they also indirectly benefit end visitors as they allow content authors to see which posts on the website are of interest to visitors , and based on feedback, they can bring the site closer to readers with more interesting content. However, some cookies are not good, at least from the point of view of the Information Office. These cookies mainly record data about your online activities, which is then processed and the information obtained is passed on to third parties, mostly advertisers. As a result, different people are shown different ads online. Everyone sees ads for products and services that they are more likely to buy. This allows owners of tracking cookies to earn more from advertising.

The Office of the Information Commissioner distributes cookies primarily on the basis of invasiveness:

  • Temporary or session cookies
  • Persistent or stored cookies
  • Own cookies
  • Other cookies

Each type of cookie is treated differently in the data controller's laws and policies. The Electronic Communications Act (ZEKom-1) stipulates that online visitors must be informed about the use of cookies. More invasive cookies require website administrators to obtain consent from visitors to their use.
